Terms of Service

1Your account

You must be at least 16 years old to use zakar. You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account. Give us accurate account information and keep it up to date. One person per account — credentials aren't for sharing.

2Free trial

New accounts get a 7-day free trial with every feature unlocked. No payment method is required to start, and nothing is charged when the trial ends. When your 7 days are up, the app simply asks whether you'd like to subscribe; if you don't, Pro features pause but your notes remain intact, viewable, and exportable.

3Plans, billing & cancellation

zakar Pro is offered as a monthly plan at US $6/month or a yearly plan at US $48/year (equivalent to two months free). Prices exclude any taxes your jurisdiction applies; where required, tax is added at checkout. Payments are processed by Stripe.

• Renewal: subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until cancelled.
• Cancellation: cancel anytime from your account settings or the Stripe billing portal. You keep Pro access until the end of the period you've paid for; no further charges are made.
• Refunds: if something's broken or you subscribed by mistake, email us within 14 days of a charge and we'll make it right — including refunds where the Service materially failed to work. Beyond that, payments for periods already started are non-refundable except where consumer law says otherwise.
• Price changes: if we change prices, we'll give existing subscribers at least 30 days' notice, and the new price applies only from your next renewal.

4Your content & your rights

You own your notes. zakar claims no ownership over anything you create, upload, record, or scan. You grant us only the limited license needed to operate the Service: to store your content, sync it between your devices, back it up, display it to you, process it with AI features when you trigger them, and share specific notes publicly when you create a share link. This license ends when you delete the content or your account, except for residual backup copies purged on our normal schedule.

AI-generated output (sorted structure, titles, answers from "ask your notes") is yours to use freely. AI can make mistakes — review important results before acting on them.

5Locked notes & passphrases

Locked notes are end-to-end encrypted with a passphrase and recovery code that only you hold. We cannot reset your passphrase or recover locked notes if you lose both. You accept that permanent loss of locked content in that situation is a consequence of the encryption design, not a defect in the Service.

6Acceptable use

Use zakar for anything lawful — work, life, ideas, secrets, grocery lists. Don't use it to:

• break the law, or store or share content that is illegal where you or we operate (including child sexual abuse material, which we report);
• harass, defraud, or violate the rights (including intellectual property and privacy rights) of others via shared links;
• probe, overload, scrape, or interfere with the Service, bypass usage limits, or resell access;
• abuse AI features to generate spam or malicious content at scale.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that materially breach these terms. Where reasonable, we'll warn you first and give you a chance to export your data.

7The Service

We work hard to keep zakar fast, synced, and available, but the Service is provided "as is" and "as available." We don't guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and features (including AI models used) may evolve, improve, or be replaced over time. Offline mode keeps local copies on your device, but you're responsible for maintaining your own exports of anything critical.

8Our intellectual property

The zakar apps, websites, design, mascots, and brand are owned by Delightful Apps and protected by law. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the apps as intended. Don't copy, reverse engineer, or create derivative works from the Service except where the law expressly permits.

9Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law: we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service; and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose (or US $50 if you paid nothing). Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or your statutory consumer rights.

10Termination

You can stop using zakar and delete your account at any time from settings. We may suspend or terminate the Service or your account for material breach of these terms, or with reasonable notice if we discontinue the Service — in which case we'll give you at least 30 days to export your notes.

11Changes, law & contact

We may update these terms as zakar evolves. For material changes we'll notify you in-app or by email before they take effect; continued use after that means you accept the updated terms. These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Delightful Apps is established, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protections of your country of residence. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remain in effect.

Before filing a claim, you and zakar agree to try to resolve it informally for 30 days after written notice, unless applicable law gives you an immediate right to proceed. Questions or notices: hello@myzakar.app.
